The Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) encountered the media to seek their opinion on issues of the Affirmative Action Bill which has not been passed for about thirteen years now.
The program which engaged members of the media fraternity occurred at the International Press Center in Accra.
Convener for Cluster on Decentralization and Citizen Participation, Madam Efia Edith Chidi clearly said, “the minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, representing the president of Ghana and the entire Executive should lay the Affirmative Action Bill before Parliament as soon as Parliament resumes from recess”
She further said, “The President of Ghana being the African Union gender Champion and Co-Chair of the Sustainable Development Goal should double his efforts towards achieving these targets by passing the Affirmative Action Bill into an act”
We have had promises, assurances, pronouncements and proclamations made in election year after election year with little action to address the systematic inequalities that prevent women from being part of the decision-making process” She added.
