Antoine Griezmann‘s career is far from over but the Frenchman has already played with a number of the world’s best players and enjoyed a lot of success.
A World Cup winner, Griezmann has been reflecting on some of the best that he has played with and reserved special praise for his Atletico Madrid strike partner Diego Costa, choosing him as the best he has worked with.
“Because he [Costa] gives me support on the pitch,” Griezmann said to Oh my Goal.
“He allows me to play with more freedom and we can understand each other with a look, we know where the other is.
“On top of that, he’s a fighter and he infects me. I love it.”
Weighing in on the debate of who is the greatest to ever play football, Griezmann leaned towards the modern greats, albeit with some uncertainty.
“It depends on the time, but I would say [Lionel] Messi or Cristiano [Ronaldo],” he added.
“I never saw Pele or [Diego] Maradona or how they played.
“It’s a complicated question because everyone has their own style.
“Zinedine Zidane is also there. He won a World Cup and Messi and Cristianohaven’t done that.”
The Atleti No.7 has played against many of the world’s best defenders and his most difficult opponent was something of a surprise.
“I would say Pepe,” he revealed. “He always breathes on the back of your neck. He’s always on top of you and he’s very difficult to overcome.”
Making a five-a-side team with players he has worked alongside, the forward showed little hesitation.
“I would say Ousmane Dembele and also [N’Golo] Kante because you can’t lose if he’s on your team,” he began.
“Then [Diego] Godin because he always finds a way to win… David Beckham too, no goalkeeper.”
